Confession: A Roman Catholic App App Reviews

I loved this app when it first came out. I especially loved the custom category and in fact thats all I use for my regular examination of conscience and bi-weekly confession. Unfortunately since the last update I am very frustrated. I used to be able to write my custom sins that I regularly struggle with and see them written out in full sentences. Then I could check them off or add new ones as needed. With the update, There is some type of check box/column down the center that obstructs longer sentences. And now when I check and uncheck sins, the app randomly checks and unchecks other sins that I didnt even click. Please tell me that you are going to fix these bugs. I have been waiting for an update and there hasnt been one for a while.

Im a convert (received into the Church at Easter Vigil 2011), and I used this app for my first confession. Its very helpful, and Ive used it for each confession since then to prepare for Reconciliation.

I bought this looking for an app to use for an examination of conscience. To use it however you have to create a user account with your name, birthdate, pw, vocation, if you have children and your sex. Im good with name and pw, the rest isnt necessary but unfortunately you cant use the app unless all fields are filled in. Im not doing that so I just wasted two bucks. Thanks for nothing.

Great way to prepare for your reconciliation! It was really helpful and allowed me to organize my thoughts! It will also allow you to refresh your memory of the Act of Contrition. Great tool!

Logging tool broken Why need acct ?

This is a perfect app to guide you to make a sincere and thoughtful confession. It is easy to use and follow whether you are new to the process or a long time Catholic.

This app must have been written to make money. It only provides a list of sin from which you choose. Then you are suppose to take out your phone and read the check sins to the priest. Maybe it is the precursor to auto confession.

I find this app very helpful in preparing for confession. Especially being that it has been 2 1/2 years I think since i last went.

I am finding it helpful, try to update daily with any changes. It takes the guess work out if confession. I would recommend it!

Nice to come back to... Like going home! It keeps track of last confession for me and my daughter . I like the steps leading to confession.

Definitely a useful app Fr examination and prayers. I like setting a reminder for Confession, and the notification will bug me til I go. A few bugs though: it doesnt remember profile info, such as whether you have children, adding/removing a sin is very finicky, and wording is confusing for some sins. A daily examination reminder would be a nice add.

Great tool for examination of conscience. I like that you can choose from several arrays of ways to consider transgressions or acts that disrupt ones relation with God. Its unfortunate that one must a new profile in order to explore them. For example, I am a single person (widowed but never sacramentally married) who is discerning a religious or priestly vocation. Though unprocessed, I find those confession models helpful. The apps u flexibility does not support this easily. Being able to add personal "categories" does, so I can reference specific moments or themes that might be obscured by the general categories. And if I notice a pattern, it probably deserves a specific category so I can do a post-confession examination of conscience. Its hard to get the app opened in the confessional when fumbling both to (1) unlock the phone and (2) enter a password. Am I really likely to share my phone password with someone else? I guess some would. Id rather share my confession and absolution.

This app has a good list of questions to help examine your conscience before Confession. It is great to take your phone into the confessional and to reference your sins, as I always worried Id forget things I thought of during my preparation for confession.

This app includes a very thorough examination of conscience and its great that it keeps track of how long it has been between confessions. Highly recommended!

I got this app for my kids but have found it very useful for tracking when you go to confession and for the examination of conscience.

I got this app when it first came out, and I now use it for just three purposes: 1) Keeping track of when I last received the sacrament 2) Reminding me of the prayers within Confession, especially the Act of Contrition (there are 7 different versions, so if you start getting bored with one, you can mix it up by using another) 3) Catechesis/evangelization, in walking my PSR students through the Rite and showing others what it looks like. That said, the app has many serious shortfalls, some of which can be attributed to a lack of updates and bug fixes in the past few years: 1) The User settings are buggy. I do not have children, yet as soon as I open the Examination of Conscience, for some reason the App changes my settings to that of a mother. So my custom Examination of Conscience is littered with irrelevant concerns, such as how I am raising my children and relating to their father. 2) The best feature of this app is the custom Examination of Conscience. It is supposed to take account your gender, age, vocation, and whether you have children to create an Examination of Conscience that is most likely to fit your lifestyle. When I first got the app, this was a functional and very powerful feature, alone worth the price of the app. However, with the aforementioned bug that keeps changing my profile to say that I have kids, the custom Examination of Conscience is virtually useless now.

I have used this app for a couple of years now. One of the most useful aspects is that it keeps me both grounded and honest in being thorough and I have found that each time I go through the examination I dig deeper and remember more.
